Mumbai: Anmol TV, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited’s (ZEEL) free-to-air Hindi general entertainment channel, has marked a new chapter with the launch of its first original show, Hamari Radha. The daily fiction series features Simran Kaur, Akshay Mhatre and Vaidehi Nair in the lead roles and airs every day at 9:30 pm.
Set against the contrasting worlds of tradition and modern urban life, Hamari Radha follows Radha, played by Simran Kaur, a woman from Kishanpur in Uttar Pradesh who has settled in Mumbai with her husband Girdhar Maurya, portrayed by Akshay Mhatre.
While Radha remains deeply connected to her roots, values and traditional upbringing, Girdhar is drawn towards an increasingly modern lifestyle and changing urban perspectives. Their differences gradually create a distance in their marriage, while Girdhar becomes closer to Shanaya Shrivastava, a modern and confident woman from his workplace, played by Vaidehi Nair.
As her marriage enters a difficult phase, Radha is forced to confront the truth about her relationship and find the strength to stand up for herself. The show explores her journey as she attempts to protect her marriage while also discovering her own identity and voice.
Mangesh Kulkarni, Chief Channel Officer – Zee TV and FTA, said Hamari Radha represented an important step in Anmol TV’s content journey as its first original show. He said the channel aimed to bring fresh stories to FTA audiences that connected with their lives, values and aspirations.
“Radha’s journey gives us an opportunity to explore these themes through a strong woman who remains connected to her roots while navigating a changing world around her,” Kulkarni said.
Simran Kaur described playing Radha as a special experience. According to the actress, Radha is simple, enthusiastic and deeply rooted in her values, but circumstances gradually bring out her inner strength.
“Radha believes deeply in her relationships, but when her marriage goes through a difficult phase, she also learns to stand up for herself,” Kaur said, adding that portraying the different dimensions of Radha’s journey had been particularly meaningful.
Akshay Mhatre said Girdhar is a man who wants to build a better life for himself but gradually finds his decisions leading him into circumstances he never anticipated. He described the character’s constant conflict between personal desires and responsibilities as one of its most interesting aspects.
Vaidehi Nair, meanwhile, described Shanaya as confident, modern and ambitious, with a clear understanding of what she wants. She said exploring the character’s different shades and understanding the motivations behind her choices had been an engaging experience.
With marriage, relationships, tradition and changing social perspectives at its core, Hamari Radha presents the journey of a woman navigating the complexities of love, identity and self-respect.
Hamari Radha airs daily at 9:30 pm exclusively on Anmol TV.
